Lancets & FleamsFleams, also called flem, flew, flue, fleame, or phleam, were used by physicians for bloodletting, an ancient practice that began with the Egyptians a thousand years BC and spread to the Greeks and Romans. Bloodletting continued through the Middle Ages, reaching its zenith early in the the nineteenth century, then falling into disfavor by the end of that century. Lancets were similar to scalpels, but had a double-edged blade. Lancets were also sometimes used for bloodletting. | | Bids | Bid/ Price | Time Left |
